I got started in the early 90's when nonlinear was taking off in a big way especially on the AVID System.
I was actually going to Atlanta Ga, I had a appointment with Coca Cola to show them what I was doing on a Mac at that time. I had to put something together short and sweet. I was supposed to do a video piece on my brother Maurice Johnson and his Jazz band, After 5, but that fell through. So I had 2 days o put something together for the Atlanta trip.
I had previously did some footage of Model Sonya Carter who I taped in Down Town OKC and The Gardens a couple of weeks before. I had no idea what I would use it for.
I decided to put something together evolving myself for lack of time. I waited till everyone left the office complex and I set up 2 cameras, one was a high 8 and the other was a regular 8. Remember all I wanted to do was show what could be done on the computer back then, not so much trying to showcase me. I brought several changes of cloths and a song that was popular back then too, called "Something Going On" by UNV. I also had my nephew, Michael Johnson to video tape me at the Garden Botanicals in Oklahoma City. I taped the entire night till about 6AM that morning and this is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy!

Even if don't have sound, I remember having the pleasure of playing this on many of my radio shows, at at that time, I was having problems with my girl, too! Just say, I was throwing some real (we ain't even having problems in our relationship Quiet Storms, but I might start something with you, just to make up) because of that darn dj! I'm out and you'll get it on the way home!

Sorry about the sound too. I love UNV and that song back then was it, and still is. I wish WMG would give me the rights so the song could be played. And to UNV, I meant them no harm in any way.

I choose that song to take to Laface Records back then just to show what could be done on the computer when video editing on the computer was in its infancy. Maybe if enough people will write or email both U-Tube and WMG, they may let the song be played.
