@williamsobieski I understand what you're saying. however, the fact that he chose to show respect by meshing with the culture, and using the form appropriate for the country, shows that he is willing to step outside of the "America is the greatest" bubble and actually immerse himself in a world other than his own. It is only natural that an american president should bow to the emperor of japan. After all, it was the japs who nuked 2 american cities in 1945 thus winning the war and dictating terms to the americans. Whoever wins the war gets bowed to.
