My parents adopted a girl from africa, to all you people judging, there are a lot of time those kids are badly damaged, it got to the point that she would steal and have sex and break things and constantly lie, and wasnt capable of love, and it was a nightmare to live, so after 10 years of hell my parents sent her to a foster home and it cost them 600$ per month (they have no choice to pay that) until shes 18, it may be easy for you who havent lived it, all we wanted was a peaceful life.

The sad thing is that he is probably better off than being with her!

@MrPandaLovesYou1234 Their economy is still in the recovering stages from communism, and one can only assume that a percentage of pregnant woman in Russia decide that they cannot afford to raise and provide for the child-- So they put them up for adoption. It's nearly the same situation with China and the vast numbers of female children you can adopt. It's just a means of giving them a chance at a better life with a family that can actually support them.

@DeliciousPoop Are you implying that a seven year old has similar worth to an article of clothing and a television?

to everyone judging, think about this next time you try to return a sweater or a tv

having heard the womans story I understand her issues with her family's safety. But there would have been a better way for the "adult" to handle the situation. For example, not putting a 7 year old child on a plane back to RUSSIA, alone! The child obviously has some issues that need to be addressed. Thats the chance you take when you adopt a child, that's the chance you take when you GIVE BIRTH. But as a parent, you deal with it! Whether it's your birth child, or otherwise. Poor kid!

I am glad you read the letter from the woman. After all the press I have seen on this, I never heard her side. In truth, I have to side with her. I agree that the trauma to the kid is significant.
If I was in that situation this is what I would've done: I think I might have helped this poor kid before I shipped out. And let's say I did give the kid back, I definitely would've done it more humanely instead of just throwing a 7 year old on a plane half way across the world all by himself. At the same time I don't want to be too judgmental on that woman because some people just don't know how to deal with situations like that, but she should've expected difficulties!
