  • Thanks for your comments. Life still is good, but nothing like the old days! Never had a worry then & got half a tank for $2.00!

  • Appreciate your comments. I had to fabricate some of the wood supports. The '56 had a '59 283 motor with 3000 miles on when i got it.

  • I'm still amazed at how much resemblence of your car is to mine! Early Chevy coupes are rare as heck and to see one built in the early 60's and published in Hot Rod magazines as a feature car is so great to see! I had to have this video downloaded to my cell phone to enjoy and share with my hot rodding buddies! When I'm finished with the restoration of my '31 Chevy 5 window coupe, I will submit a video too!

  • Thanks Mike. Early Chevys were tough to Rod because of all the wood. They were left behind in favor of the Fords. Good luck with yours.

  • WOW!!! This is the most beautiful restoration i ever seen,on an old 30's rat rod,and all it's been documented, nice!!!

Muy bonito!!! kool video!!! 10 stars!!! :)

Keep posting more videos about your nice Hot Rod and your family!

  • Thanks. Appreciate your WOW. Glad I had an old 16 mm camera.

  • That Sir was fantastic!! Thank you very much for sharing. I couldn't have hoped for a better ending, you are indeed a lucky, lucky man, you were part of a time and scene for real that people like myself can only dream of in these gas hating, PC loving, health & safety obsessed days, my god! even the cars parked along the side of the street in the video are all beautiful classics that I would love to own. Your 31 is beautiful, long may you and she continue.

  • Neat you had the movies and still have the car!

  • By no means is this a "Rat Rod" but a fine example of a traditional well finished "HOTROD"!

Rat rods is a 2000 term for a dilapidated car that has scrap hanging all over it!

This car is a classic timeless Beauty with a beautiful finish and a true classic "Hot rod" engine! Even the 56 Chev Donor was Hotrodded with a 1959 283... the 1956 Chevy's had a 265 cu. in. engine! Does the body have a lot of the original wood?

Congrats on the build and the ability to keep it all these years.

  • My first car was a 55 ford back in 67. my dad paid $45 for it. i wasn't old enough to drive so all i could do is sit in it and daydream! i've still got it today. The only videos i have are all in my head . thanks for sharing yours!

  • what did the club plaque say on the front when hes pullin out of the garage. and great video very cool to see actual hot rodders from the 50s.

  • Great story. Brings back a lot of memories!

  • AMAZING! I can't beleiev you still have it!
