I agree with you completely. BTW, if you want to meet the REAL Captain Queeg, read "Halsey's Typhoon," by Drury and Clayton. It's a fantastic true story. Herman Wouk was in the navy, and he based the Queeg character on an officer he either knew or heard of, and he's every bit as troubled as "Queeg."

    "Chinese health balls?"

    How about steel ball bearings.

I totally agree! My favorite scene too! Bogart was an actor's actor. He's at his best in this classic 50's WWII drama.

I second that emotion! Mental illness always will out in the end. After all, I'd rather have a bottle in front of me instead of a frontal lobotomy.

I saw this first when I was 14 & didn't understand the reverence for Queeg,But as I got older,I fully understood. He was not an evil man just tired,& unable to see it for himself. For the most part, Greenwald's assessment was dead on.

Classic. When I was in the Navy we used to have endless debates about this movie and the lessons to take from it.
