The Great Escape - Homoeroticism

I really like this movie; always have ever since I was a kid when my dad recorded it off tv. I've watched this movie dozens of times but it was in high school when I heard somewhere how the Tunnel Kings were *possibly* gay; maybe purposely or by accident, but they came off as gay. I never thought about it until after I heard this. I tried to make an argument to Agent Oliver that maybe they were gay, even though it's ALL IN JEST! So please refrain from calling me a homophobe or a gay-basher or whatever. I was just kidding around. I put these clips together to make a funny point and I realize that most of them pretty much are explained in context so again, it's just something to look at and have fun with.

It was a different style back then with a different generation of people. Not to mention it was a prison movie so it can't be helped that it was all men and they did these things. This kind of ignorance is why two straight men can't have a close relationship with each other without people thinking their gay because some guy is afraid of his own sexuality.

It's not gay...It's like an 18th or 19th century male relationship. Men were much more comfortable and intimate with each other then...without being sexual.

I remember thinking these same thoughts when I first saw this movie. They truly did make the gay escape.

That girl sounds so annoying! She's clearly never seen the whole film - they weren't brothers in it,and they didn't act like brothers either, there was definitely a 'vibe' between them. The movie was filled with guys who were good friends and 'brotherly', but the Tunnel Kings stood out, they were inseparable, and everyone basically treated them as a couple - like it was unthinkable they'd do anything without each other.
