On january 19th 2007 Richmond fire department had a fire in the old Montgomery Wards building. This video is of El Cerrito FD forcing some roll up doors. FF Wade and Janes did a great job keeping it simple and sweet! Note it only take one cut with the saw to force these doors. NO TEE-PEE CUT needed.

  • WTF? Where's the hose line? 2 1/2 right?

  • Why do you need a hose line for the fire is out. The roof has been burned off, the contents is all burned up. It's out! Mop up Hardline or 1" 3/4 right!

  • This is a training fire... right? Someone tell me that it is.

  • Sorry it is a real fire!

  • Lucky that they actually wear any glove. None of them are wearing an SCBA and where is that safety hose near by ? In a event of a backdraft... these guys would suffer severe facial burn

  • Now I have to say you should take a closer look at the video before you make such statements... A Backdraft? Please! be smart about what you write here Come on guys look the building has NO Roof left! I have only been doing this for a little while just 20 years. But I have never heard of a backdraft happening in a building where there is no roof. Plus the contents of the building and everthing in it has already burned up, there is no more fuel left to burn.

  • P.S.--Everybody's a critic.

  • Great video, thanks for posting. It's nice to see a 'real world' fire video of this technique. Training videos are always great, but it's cool to see the same techniques applied well at real incidents. Thanks again.

  • Here we go with the safety problems. I know safety is a big issue with this job and very important, but its ruining our reputation. Mainly in the career side than volunteer. Thats why a lot of people wont even think twice when the fire dept has to take cuts. Its getting to the point where we wont go in unless someone is trapped. I know of plenty of fires where the home owner could have ended with the same result just by standing around with the neighbors garden hose. feels real good at tax time

  • Exposed fire, smoke, 4 fire fighters, no scba, no hose line, no team ready to make entry with and interior line..........WTF!!!!!!!

  • No SCBA's in the hot zone? what do your SOG's say? no packs in the hot zone or packs at your own risk?

  • @FFWilliam1 it's a leather helmet. He bent the brim.

  • @cutiger3115 i understand but i am just saying smart decisions and watching where you walk can be normal

  • @agentz100 Not to sound like an ass but can a spot fire burn someone? It surprises people how many firefighters are injured during overhaul. Not trying to sound like an ass trying to help ff's stay safe.

  • @cutiger3115 he meanas only overhaul is left and there is only a little bit of spotfires left and thats all

  • how did that guy janes get hes helmet like that
