@aaronfowlowmusic i know that but there are some cases , if your laptop is running windows 7 or vista, if downgrade it to XP, sometimes you will encounter BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, ,, anyway thanks.. i think i need to buy ASUS UL20a with FREE DOS

@xlocknloll I don't see why not. If XP is what you prefer. As long as it is a PC with the right specs, it doesn't matter.

I'm a big fan of your laptop reviews. For someone who doesn't know a ton about computers, you make the details pretty easy to understand.
I'm starting school in a few weeks & somewhere in the $500-600 range. Your review of the ASUS UL20a seems like the best fit, but I wondered if you had any other recommendations. i'm not really concerned with video gaming or graphics, except for watching the occasional youtube clip.

Can you play older games on it?
couple years.

@liv3rpoolfc thanks so much for the reply. I bought the UL20a and it's awesome! Windows 7 HP is so fast and effecient. I also use Windows Live Essentials which contain easy-to-use apps.
I previously had EEE PC 4G and it's still working. Asus in my opinion makes great hardware. The speaker is superb, it's hidden yet it's loud. Keyboard and touchpad works great. Screen size and resolution for me is perfect. I can live without HDMI since I can hook my HD TV through VGA port.
Thanks again!

@ilovesamsungverymuch if you are going to use it for basic thing such as browsing internet and Microsoft office or youtube hd then i would go for asus ul20a... if you are going to do a bit of light gaming or watching hd movies (1080p) and applications such as adobe photoshop or sony vegas then i would go for the 1201n as it has slightly better graphics performance but a sloer cpu... if you are going to upgrade hdd and ram then go for ul20 as these can be upgraded easier than 1201n.

The laptop looks great and I'm also curious if this could be used a primary computer. More importantly, how is the trackpad with those little bumps (comfy or irritating) and does the display look nice playing videos on it (MP4). Thanks!
