Sooo generally I'm pretty unoriginal, but I somehow wrote a song not too long ago...this song to be exact. That's a first for me. It didn't come out as country sounding as I would have liked, but oh well! It's about somebody who's about to break up with somebody else, and who is tired of dating and breaking up with people. I wrote it about a friend of mine...or something. lol

p.s. I had to put that picture in just so you know who was singing/playing.

*Lyrics*

I tried not to think
About the way that this would end
And it's not my thing
To act like it's okay, no I don't like to pretend

Well I've been here before, at least a time or two
Maybe not with you girl, but after a while
It's all the same to me, it's like déjà vu

And though I told myself you were the one
I've come to terms
With the fact that taking that step always leads to the
Same old lesson learned
So I'll swallow my pride, go back to the start
Forget what's lost
And I'll wish my heart, better luck next time

Well we had our fun
So don't take this the wrong way
But I think you'll agree we're at the end of the road
There's nothing left to say

Well I've been here before, at least a time or two
'Cuz I've got that feeling
And maybe you can't tell
But I know this feeling all too well

And though I told myself you were the one
I've come to terms
With the fact that taking that step always leads to the
Same old lesson learned
So I'll swallow my pride, go back to the start
Forget what's lost
And I'll wish my heart, better luck next time

And even though this is nobody's fault
I can't help but feel
That I should've known
That my heart would misguide me again
But it felt so real

And though I told myself you were the one
I've come to terms
With the fact that taking that step always leads to the
Same old lesson learned
So I'll swallow my pride, go back to the start
Forget what's lost
And I'll wish my heart, better luck next time

Yeah maybe next time
There's always next time

  • Unfortunately not...thanks though!

  • McD, that was great man, I listen to alot of original music, and I have to say, I love the sound, but I really really like your lyrics, well done sir. Oh, and Go Flames, I grew up in Calgary

  • hmmm...boooo flames, go oilers! lol but hockey rivalries aside - thanks for the kind words.

  • hi i like your style can i ask where you play which city are you from?

  • I dig the lyrics and the guitar..and my favorite thing about you is how you're not afraid to belt out some great songs even though you're not the best singer

  • Wonderful lyrics, I could easily see this song being on the radio. And i don't know about everyone else, but I came across it because I typed "tired of dating" into the search box, so it was a good song for me to hear right now. =)

  • Nice job Rob. I missed this when you posted it. You have a good talent for arranging music.
