Wow, 20,00 views! :D

This is my idea if the opening titles for the 7th Doctor were redone to use more modern CGi techniques. It was only too late that I realised I made no indication of which actor is playing the Doctor at all so I may edit this later to include a name or even a face.

Watch in high quality and enjoy! :D

All visual and audio elements have been arranged by myself (PJM25595) with appropriate credit/copyright notices below:

Oliver Elmes: Designer of original 7th Doctor Who opening titles.

Keff McCulloch: Composer of the original 7th Doctor Who theme tune (originally composed by Ron Grainer and realised by Delia Derbyshire).

BBC: Owners of 'Doctor Who' including the logo and the TARDIS (name and design).

I also used images from NASA to compile a portion of the galaxy, the blue nebula (heavily edited), the bubble surrounding the TARDIS, the vortex-ish effect where McCoy's face should be and Earth.

Stephen Langstone: Creator of TARDIS model in this sequence and rendered out this sequence.

Program used: 3DS Max 9, created by Autodesk.

  • Well the TARDIS in the bubble looked good, I don't know why you included the Earth. The 7th Dr title sequence is very unique & complex, better than the Nu-hu ones, that's why it's so much harder to replicate. The 2005 version just looks like an amateur's attempt at the DW Movie version.

  • @LegoDaleks What I wanted to try to do with this was widen the scope and expand upon what was already available while still retaining some key original elements. I have been considering doing a new version which would essentially be a revamp of this video, with perhaps a wider spread of planets just to signify the space travel element.

PS I rather like the 05 version, it's quite impressive considering the budget they had :P But to each their own :)

  • where's the faces

  • @MrBb100000 Read the description.

  • This video is realy good, vut you should make a video that compares your version of the theme song, to the the one that was put on air.

  • @truwho8 I've been meaning to, but I've never been sure how I've wanted to do it. Do I make it more like modern themes i.e. orchestralised with some synths, or do I simply redo it so it is just an updated 80s version? Choices choices! xD But it will happen eventually :)

  • i really wish they did remake these titles and make a modern version. I think it would really pay tribute to the 7th doctor as well. Good vid! at least someone cares to try and remake these titles!

  • @PJM25595 OK, thanks

  • There's some good ideas in there! Nice job!

  • You did a great job with this, not only is it initiative but between the updated logo design and flow of it, you put a great spin on it. Well done!

  • when I put down "vut", I ment to put down "but"
