For Good from the musical Wicked is performed by the Ensemble Choir of Northwest Girlchoir. Ensemble is is made up from part of the approximately 60 member high school aged Amore choir. This performance was at a choir fundraiser this spring.

This year is the 35th anniversary year for Northwest Girlchoir in Seattle that was founded in...well, 35 years ago.

(From their website)
Northwest Girlchoir is a community of young women creating beautiful music and life-long friendships.

At Northwest Girlchoir, we provide extraordinary music education and performance experiences. Our choristers provide the talent, dedication, teamwork and heart.

Northwest Girlchoir is made up of 170 young women, ages 4 to 18, who, through the joy and discipline of choral singing, learn about themselves, each other and the world around them. At Northwest Girlchoir, voices come together to create the critically-acclaimed sound that can be heard on our recordings and in concert halls around the globe.

  • I've never heard of this choir before..is it in the states? O.o

p.s: you girls are great (:

  • @MrKookoobananas - Northwest Girlchoir is in Seattle and is finishing up their 38th season.

  • @MrKookoobananas - Northwest Girlchoir is in Seattle, Washington and they are finishing up their 38th season.

  • @starkravingbiker cool, do they compete all of the states?

  • @MrKookoobananas - they typically don't "compete". They have traveled to Kathamiux in BC in years past which is a competition of a sort, and they also participated in Festival 500 in St Johns in 2005. Mostly they perform locally and then in summers travel to share their music. This summer they are traveling to Iceland, Finland and Estonia.

  • i loved singing with norwest girl choir! it taught me so much about sight reading, tone and beautiful singing. i am now in the UCLA Chorale, a collegiate co-ed choir and I am so grateful to have had the 9 years of experience in NWGC. I think the comments about unoriginality are very wrong. we all worked extremely hard in that choir and were very successful in festivals all over the world. I am proud to say that I sang in this Ensemble two years ago (ps thats me on the right in the last row) :)

  • Mac, you are spot on. It was my privilege to listen to you all sing for so many years, and you just kept getting better and better every year. Folks can have issues with an arrangement, but there is no denying how well you all always delivered. I'm so glad to hear that you are continuing to sing.
