Not sure what they are doing they have been doing this for three days but going in at night. They are not swarming and honey season is over taking the suppers off next week. Thay haven't made any honey either this year. My theory too much rain washed the nectar off. . It's not been too hot but maybe they think it is. LOL. The strip is on there because of robbers. They were killing bee's and throwing them out of the hive it may have been the drawns but it didn't look like drawns. This is only my second year bee keeping so I am new to this...Any advise from the veterans!!

  • I thought they were being robbed but I think they were tossing out the drowns. I removed the reducer tonight so I guess I'll see tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I really do appreciate it.

  • This is called "bearding". They usually do it when they're hot and/or crowded. I see you have an entrance reducer on there. With healthy numbers like that you really shouldn't need it, and if you remove it they'll be able to ventilate the hive better which will make them less likely to cluster on the front of the hive. If you're still concerned about robbing, cut your entrance reducer in half. If they still cluster you might add another shallow super. It's not too late to get honey.
