This is the second of two clips showing Mennonite volunteers with Christian Disaster Relief helping remove burnt pine trees in Bastrop, Texas. This is not simple work, as you can see in the video clip. This tree was very close to a destroyed home, and it fell across the remaining concrete slab. This team was kind enough to slice a section of a downed tree for me that was some 70 years old. It's an important addition to my tree ring studies, for it's annual growth rings nicely show very thin rings during the drought of the 1950s and the current drought.
