@potchammy unfortunatly, that isn't completely true
it 1/2 dance competition, 1/2 popularitiy contest (really 1/3 dance, 2/3 popularity)
plus the fact mya screwed up with the freestyle and let donny tied with her in first place in scores from the last 2 nights it was basically left in the hands of the viewer
and even though mya is clearly better people would somehow rather see there favorite star win the the best dance
it's a sad, wrong, and just plan stupid truth of the show

Mya or Kelly should have won! Mya was the most consistent and talented. And Kelly had that loveable underdog quality and warmth. Mya or Kelly would have made me happy as the winner.

im glad that Donny won, but this year it was a popularity contest... i have watched every season and this is the only one where the best dancer did not win... personally i though Joanna and Derek should have won... i didn't even watch the finale because I was pissed at the fact that America voted them off

I'm happy for Kym because she deserved to win as a pro, but Mya was a better dancer than Donny, and Kelly had more of a transformation than Donny. It always comes down to a popularity contest, and I hate that. Gilles didn't win last year because Shawn was more popular, too.
