Unwanted Hitchhiker---Bobbit Worm In Action

Here is a video of the hitchhiker Bobbit Worm in action. Apparently he has done quite a good job of creating an even bigger network of tunnsels in this live rock piece than I thought he had. This guy has actually used his mucus to create 'doors' which open and shut as he goes in and out of them automatically. You can see him eating a piece of mysis shrimp.

@DjTantrik08 salt water fish go hmm.. that looks tasty let me try and eat it and so they go in and start pecking at it .. and it wrestles them because they grow to a large size. Or the smaller worms will get eaten but the fish will die or become sick because of the needles all over the body of the worm.. imagine eating a piece of gum with hypodermic needles sticking out of it.  I hope this helped.. even if it was a year ago.

@DjTantrik08 I know you posted this a year ago.. and NOBODY answered you that I can see.. which is too bad. So heres the answer. They multiply really quickly, they eat corals sometimes when they're hungry, they pester corals touch them and they have sharp needles all over their bodies. When they are young they aren't bad because they eat hair algae and air rate the sand bed and substrate and keep the tank pretty tidy, but thats what you get crabs and snails for. Some times .........

if you were to squirt boiling citrus water in its lilt hole.. it would most likely dye but extracting it is the easiest way... disguisting

Did you ever catch it? I had a 9" hitchhiker Bobbit worm as well. The fact that I even saw him was by chance. Had to remove the 3" round piece of LR he was in. Put in in a bowl with an inch of water. It took close to a week before he crawled out and died. I didn't even try to grab him since the stupid worm will regenerate if it breaks. It's still in the freezer..lol. Souvenir. Lost the rock since everything on it died. Caught another one 6 months later about half the size. No more missing fish!

I had something similar in my tank. Someone called it a bristle worm, but looked nearly identical to your critter. I was lucky... my arrow crab caught it and took care of it. Fed himself for almost 8 hours before letting it go and I fished out the dead carcass.
