Also, no need for this to be boiling or sputtering AT ALL. You do NOT want to burn anything...which is why you also don't want the water to completely disappear. Simmer = keep the heat just below the boiling point. I stirred the mixture every now and then just to keep the heat distributed better.

@SuperSherf1 I poured off most of the excess water when I was done. I wanted the consistency of chili. I'm going to make this recipe again tomorrow and this time I'll use less water (5 cups instead of 6 for a 1 lb bag of lentils) and add more while it's simmering if the lentils aren't at the semi-firm place I want them to be by the time the water's gone. This time I'll try hot salsa instead of mild—I love hot and spicy—and even more onion and mushrooms.

scoob one question to you/ or anyone else whatever...why do you throw everything up like you dont care for it and make a mess lol like when u put the lentins in the pot u left some in the package and also spilled alot on your sink..same with the cutting,ever a little kid can cut a tomato/onion...so why did you waste the food? ; / . im just really curious coz iv noticed in alot of your videos you like to throw stuff away and just dont care about them or cleaning after lol...why so? : O
