This was footage taken from a plane landing at Bern airport Switzerland. It was quite a windy day and I think it was wind shear that caused the plane to hit the runway. Are there any expert opinions, was this a near accident? How dangerous/close was this? All input welcome.

  • it just bounced to the missed app altitude

  • Poo Poo canooter valve malfunctions are quite common in this type aircraft.

  • Just a theory - your video camera caused the accident xD

  • @bikramjeet001 best comment for this video eva lol

  • I am actually surprised he didn't commit to the landing. This is close to the worst I went through. When returning from a deployment, our overloaded plane landed in Rhein-Main Air Base to refuel. The pilot landed so hard that it over compressed the landing gear and slammed people into their seats causing some to suffer back and shoulder pain. Everyone had to deplane on a Sunday and wait 10 hours in a closed airport termindal for another plane to be brought from the US. It was horrible...

  • you mean "once the captain has cleaned the pile of shit in his underwear and realizes that he still has to land......we'll keep you updated"

  • touch and go....any time the pilot doesn't get a warm fuzzy about the ship, they would rather go-around than chance it

  • Damn that looked and sounded like it hurt!

  • @tek5828 What happens is, the wind shifts direction as the plane descends, and the airspeed changes, but the ground speed doesn't. If he's landing with, say, a 30 knot headwind, and right before he touches down on the runway, the wind shifts to a 20 knot headwind, the plane's gonna drop like a rock, and bounce. Could have also been caused by rotating wind (wind shear) or other things...

Not too dangerous, because of ground effects, but I'm sure the 'windshear' warning was going off...
