Jerry Yagens Focke Wulf Fw190 A8/N, flown by Marc Mathis, built by Meiermotors / Bremgarten at Breitscheid Airshow. It was a stunning display, partly together with Walter Eichhorn and the Messerschmitt BF109 Buchon. The FW190 arrived Friday and left the Airshow on Sunday, so take-off and landing in the clip are not in the real chronology, but it looked even better for the clip. Enjoy! Thanks to Jerry Yagen for making things happen.

A characteristic of all round engines is that oil seeps into the lower cylinders after they sit for a while. It can be removed by scavenge pumps or by manually removing spark plugs. This is why you see ground crew turning the prop to check for fluid in the lower cylinders, since this can destroy an engine on startup. (Hydraulic lock) The smoke comes from the small amount of oil that remains in the cylinders and exhaust.

  • It wa$ a really good deal however It did belch smoke like the volvo when started. Then, once it warmed up it went along pretty good. It did'nt hold up traffic or anything.

These replicas were built with a new 3-blade prop, but one example had a failure in the electric prop control and crashed. (It's being repaired.) The 4-blade prop is an original matched propeller for the ASh-82 engines in these replicas, and it was used as a precaution. The problem with the new 3-blade prop is now fixed (changed to mechanical prop control) and this example now uses the 3-blade prop.

  • 4 BLADES ? WHY ?

  • sure is a lot of di-hedral

  • Super :) ich war auch da !! Starkes Video !!

  • Warbirds are soooo sexy!

  • Allererste Sahne..! "leider" "nur" eine "Merlin"-Messerschmitt. :-)

  • More than 60 years old and that thing still looks like it's ready to kick some ass! (original engine or not)
