Anime Lol: A Reviewers Discussion - Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

To kick of our little event, Tom Clift of Plus Trailers ( http://tomclift.blogspot.com/ ) and myself of 42review ( http://42review.blogspot.com/ ) watched Hayao Miyazaki's first film with Studio Ghibli, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. This will be posted on both our sites, along with all the other films we watch, in batches of 4-5. The images are all from Nausicaa, and all found on google images (I'm a bit lazy like that).

There are a few factual errors, like the fact that this isn't Miyazaki's first film, just his first one with Ghibli, and probably a few others, but I don't claim to be an all knowing guru on the subject, I just watch too much anime for my own good.

The insects were not the bad guys.

In a terribly edited version, the insects were portrayed as evil,... they aren't in the real version.

Awesome movie, i loved it since i saw the butchery Warriors of the Wind back in 86 when i was 5 years old and loved it. I saw the uncut fansub tape when i was 16 and thought it was greater, but now the new dub is an improvement. Anyone thinks this is one of the inspirations to the Avatar movie? Cameron did pay homage to Ghibli in his movie since he is a fan.

@Johnlindsey289 I've got my hands on Warriors of the Wind, and I really hope we can watch it some time because it just seems like a hilarious thing. I'm glad Disney ended up getting rights to the Ghibli movies since they've done an excellent job in dubbing and distributing them all.

princess mononoke is far from perfect she is violent angry and hurting her interactions with her own kind are difficult and living with the Wolves isnt any easier

Great review, although I can't agree that Princess Mononoke's character is perfect; she's pretty violent, and she harbors too much hate against humans.

Warriors of the Wind is good for chuckles. Did the movie Avatar reminded you of this movie at times combined with Castle in The Sky, Totoro, Mononoke, star Wars, Heavy Metal and Last of the Mohicans?

@CaptainRaccoonWhitly Yeah, we may watch it sometime. Right now we're finishing off some of the other Ghibli films we haven't seen and Ghost in the Shell. Then we're not sure what we'll watch.

@Dispozition Oh, that's fine, I just wanted to point that out. Speaking of which, you should talk about The Castle of Cagliostro sometime. I may not always agree with you (I thought you were too harsh on Kiki's Delivery Service,) but I like your conversations a lot.
