On the US Marines Birthday this Country was given a great present. A rally in the heart of the city of brotherly love.
This is a short photojournal of my day in Philly.
I had a small conversation with one of the guards, she was a very nice lady.
I asked her why the Liberty bell was barred/roped off, she said because the oils off the skin would ruin the bell.
"But doesn't that defeat the reason why the bell was created in the first place?", cognitive silence and a smile was my reply.
I asked her why there was so much security around the bell since the terrorists don't hate us for our freedoms, she says it's because a few years ago a policeman was killed in a Dunk'n Donuts. That didn't make too much sense to me, though tragic, to have so many guards around a symbol of freedom because of a hero's death...
I told her a little bit of what I read about the city in the news, she was shocked when I told her of the +$2 million TAXPAYER dollars in security cameras that was set to be installed in Philadelphia.
She then tried to rationalise what's going on and said that the security around the bell has loosened up, right after 9/11 there were metal detectors and airport security set up in order to enter. But I told her that doesn't mean that all this that's going on is right, she agreed.
Anyway, it was a great day, I got to see Ron Paul in person, see my Liberty Bell, and met a few people as far as California that came over to see Ron Paul.
