WILDLIFE FILES MARSH TIT OCTOBER 2009

Firstly, I am scared to answer comments, because as soon as I do, they are all gone :( and it looks like I am typing to myself. But rest assured, I read every one of them. I hope they fix the bug soon, I dont like comments vanishing.

MUSIC (C) ROB ELLIOTT

It was not until late 1897, that the Marsh Tit was distinguisshed as a seperate species to the Willow Tit.

The Marsh Tit, is a smart, good looking bird with a small bib and Glossy Black cap.

This small bird, grows up to 13cm and feeds mainly on seeds and insects. This beautiful little bird is on the RED LIST. Since the 1970's their numbers have dropped by a huge 60 percent.

eserve, they dart around, so filming them is hard as they dont stay put for long.

In the 1970's insecticides poisoned the birds and now, in the insecticides are so effective they dont poison the birds, they starve them, by killing their food chain.

Because they are nervous birds, they are difficult to film, as they dont stay in one place for long, so here are some short clips. I hope you enjoy them. Because of this, I have slowed down some clips by 50% so we can see the bird.

Thank you for watching and your comments, ratings and sharing.

We must help preserve the birds, for if we continue as we are, and numbers decline rapidly, we will follow not long afterwards.
