Max Creek . Camp Creek 2003.Gordon Stone guests on steel...written by Stephen Stills in 1966 , recorded with Buffalo Springfield in 1967. Of note ,this song was released prior to the Kent State shootings. Some assume it was written about the tragic event in Ohio, when in actuality there was already unrest occuring between youth and the establishment.

In 2004, this song was #63 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds,
Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, "Hooray for our side!"

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life, it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

  • I am sorry to hear this Kyle . I do care about this . In my mind, I have to ask if you had a contract with him , and if a reason was given for not fulfilling the obligation ? Trust me , I believe that folks take advantage of others , I see it and hear it in the field (I work video for weddings) . It is unethical for him to bail and charge without just cause or reason . With his name and reputation being on the line , I can't help but wonder what isn't being said here . Anything else to add ?

  • Gordon Stone let me down again. After we hired them for our wedding they cancelled days before the big event. They refused to refund our deposit until I posted comments here. They promised to give us back our money and begged us to take down the comments. But they never sent the check. How many times can someone say "The check is in the mail" before you have to accept that they are lying to you? If you decide to hire Gordon Stone, don't give them any money until they actually provide a service.

  • And Rob. Man, I miss him.

  • This song was used in the late '60's early '70's in a rock musical called Lonesome Stone in England...
