I've always thought he was nursing a cold here, personally. You can hear that his voice is a bit thrashed as well. I'm not saying the coke may not have played a part here, just that I think he was sick, too.

Bottom line , no one watching this now knows exactly what he did or how he" got over it". People concoct fantasy relationships with public figures ...... kooky .

one of the cooler human beings thus far

Bowie's singing is really superb here. Great song, 1984.

fantastic! Though the backing vocalists (Luther vandross included) look like thery're waiting for the number 56 bus for work in the morning.....

thank you for this, i think the end bit is pretty cool and i doubt bowie would give a fuck

@critterel "In poor taste"? Who made Bowie snort coke? No one. He made the decision to do it and looks like a twat in a TV interview. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Thin White Duke - but, let's not be all bleeding heart stupid here.

01:55 and you c the inspiration of Ian Curtis dance - that he did much more convincingly . A true Bowie fan

Great performance. The end is very sad and in somewhat poor taste... he's said he was completely coked out over those years it isn't a secret. The fact that he got over it without years in "Rehab" like the Lindsay Lohen's of today is incredible and shows remarkable strength. Coke and smoking... both hard to quit and he managed it and has a wonderful life... it's amazing he got through that time.
