Dips are fantastic for the pecs, anterior deltiods and triceps. Unfortunately they can put a lot of strain on the rotator cuff. Because of this I do my dips well into my workout when my shoulders are fully warm and stretched. I don't go excessively heavy, but a bit of extra weight added to my bodyweight give me an excellent workout after my pecs are prefatigued with my first few exercises.
