Qantas Boeing 737-800 Cockpit Tour

Video of my recent tour of a Qantas 737-800

Will next year be commencing in a degree of civil aviation at UniSA, and as one of my college friends dad is a Qantas Captain, i asked to have a talk with him, and he very kindly invited me to come see the cockpit when he next came into Adelaide.

Captain Martin Hobbs has been flying with Qantas and the RAAF for over 20 years, and is a check Captain on the 737-400 and 737-800 fleet that Qantas fly. He very kindly showed me all the systems and gave me a run through on various procedures, all while allowing me to sit in the Captains seat!

A massive thankyou to Martin and also all of the on board crew who where very kind and happy to have us on board!

how did you get into the cockpit

@crstian2009 The Captain of the plane is the father of a good friend of mine at college. She arranged for me to meet him to have a talk about being a pilot, and then he invited me to come down when he fly in next, and during the turn around, he showed me around the cockpit

@Geminijets1100 Certainly seems mind boggling, but to be honest, most of them if you read em, they're not that difficult to understand

cant be a long flight if you only fly at 3000 feet

@f6jordan Flight from adelaide to melbourne is only about an hour, by the time you've reached 35000, practically time to start the descent, but they do obviously go higher than 3000

@Class390Freek yes i agree the side stick control makes it feel more like a fighter jet.
