Union Pacific Northern-class 4-8-4 number 844 led the Lionel Collector's Club Special, north, under the Terry Ranch Road bridge, in Wyoming. The Monday, July 26, 2010, steam excursion from Denver, Colorado, was almost over, as the train was about to arrive in Cheyenne, Wyoming, two hours late. Smoking it up was Lionel Lines lettered 844, built in December 1944. It was retired from regular service in 1959. Trailing unit 6936 was Union Pacific's last operating DDA40X Centennial, the largest class diesel ever built. Constructed in 1971, the 6936 was retired from regular high-speed freight service in 1985. It was wrecked in 2000 and then rebuilt in 2001.
844 was never retired
