Just met Sir Strling Moss today at the Laguna Seca Hiatoric Races. He is still going strong.
Spoke with him when he was getting out of a early '60s racing car . Still the same gentleman !

yeah, it's hard to seperate those two. I should have said "English driver". My favourite ever footballer is Bobby Charlton but that doesn't mean I think he could kick a ball better than others.
I judge my "best ever" on the talent, the person and how he/she affected my life. Anyway, I hate discussions about who was "best ever" at anything! It's all personal opinion.

Best ever British driver? Well, how does one really measure one driver against another? Ok, I think that most of us would say that, for example, James Hunt was a better (far better) driver than Mike Beuttler. But to put Moss ahead of Clark? When you get to that sort of standard, it's impossible, IMO, to say who's 'better' or 'worse'. It's such a shame that Stirling had to retire when he did and we were robbed of seeing those two going head-to-head. But then, perhaps Moss wouldn't be with us now.

Sterling with an "e" is what he's made of... Stirling with an "i" also received a knighthood from her majesty (good idea Liz) and should be formally addressed as SIR Stirling Moss :) I guess they don't recognise it in the States... or on speed channel anyway. God bless him. Best ever British driver for sure, my hero anyway.
