Prototype of a new portable solar-rechargeable light developed by Book Wish Foundation http://bookwish.org and AltusLumen http://altuslumen.com for use in refugee camp classrooms and other remote locations.

This is a very bright light (140 lumens) with a large battery capacity (6 hours on max), which can be recharged in about 4 hours.

Video demonstrates mounting the folding solar panel on top of the carrying case, connecting the light's battery pack for charging, and hanging the light on a wall or from the ceiling.

  • Love this product but I see one flaw, and that the solar panel is too big, you probally just need a small solar panel to charge a battery, that panel could probally run my computer, lol, but I think this is still a great product

  • @jernito Thanks for your comment. The solar panel is designed to recharge two lights' battery packs per day, each battery pack containing 6 AA NiMH 2200mAh. So, the panel is large in order to recharge a lot of batteries. This light uses so many batteries because it is extremely bright (about 180 lumens), illuminating a large area for many people to read under simultaneously.
