A video demonstrating how to upgrade your HP Media Smart Server RAM from 512MB to 2GB. This is part 1 and has a two minute intro with slides before the video starts.
Just upgraded following step-by-step of this video (added removing the hinged door though - was easier :) Thanks for a great and very helpful guide ! My 470 is like a new computer now :-)
LOL.. that was a funny post. I meant to say he does NOT pass the smell test ALL the time, but his shows are usefull for the novice and he does a good job of aggregating information for other sites. So listen but check for yourself
I think that this is very, very easy to instrument and baseline. Simply run performance monitor and then run through usage scenarios. All of the objects that you need and counters to instrument the "significant improvement" that this dude claims the RAM upgrade offers will be there... Cold hard facts. I am sure there is some truth but NO blanket improvement. I have been an MCSE for over 14 years and I listen to this guy and I have to tell you he does pass the smell test all the time.

I am happy to see this great documentation, because I really need to upgrade my server.
I am running iTunes on my WMS and I definitely needed the RAM. Plus, as I add more Add-Ins, they will be taking up more RAM.

2GB ram is a waste in this thing there will be no performance gain from the client side its not a ram intensive task to serve files
