I currently have a Chinchilla, and I would like to get him a guinea pig friend to play with. It would be housed separetly, but they would be able to play with eachother outside their cages daily. I would get another chin, but he doesnt get allong with other males, and i dont want to run the risk of getting a female and ending up with babies, and dont want to risk anesthesia, do you think it would be worth it? they will be housed separate from my chin.

@sweetriddle101 My chinchilla and guinea pig always enjoy playing with each other. They get rly excited to see each other when it comes to play time. I do not see the harm in it at all.

Both take a lot of time socializing and taking care of. However, my chinchilla gives me tons of allergies so I would pick guinea pig. But I don't think people should get small animals unless they are ready to devote a lot of time to them.

I put them together sometimes when i don't have time to let them play. My chinchillas cage is huge. I put my guinea pig in there but he does not know how to jump on the steps. =(

Actually, I've upgraded. I have two guinea pigs (Rufio, Guinu); two rats (Shouji, Bubba Shin); one dwarf hamster (Taz). So, three have gone up to five.

I currently have a guinea pig named Rufio (nicknamed Pigpig), a rat named Shouji and a dwarf hamster named Tazmania Devil (nick named Taz, Jazzy Tazzy, Demon, Devil, Satan). I can only have 3 rodents at a time according to my mom so when one passes (sad!!!!) I will get a chinchilla next.

@kaybrijay101 guinea piigs do not bite at all unless they have had a bad expiriance for example someone poking it in the eye or hurting it. then u should keep ur fingers away from its face and it should be fine.
