@stfaulk89 The term "Seperation of church and state" comes from a letter written by TJ responding to the Danbury Baptists who wrote him with concerns of the government poking around where it doesnt belong. Unlike the Brits with their Church Of England they believed religion and church is between god and individuals and government has no place, Jefferson agreed. The seperation of church and state was originally ment to protect peoples religion from government not protect people from religion.
