Hey, its josh! In this Part 1 of this 3 part tutorial, I teach you how to solve the first layer of the rubik's cube. The other parts are going to be uploaded within about 3 hours or so and the links to those videos will be posted here.

The method taught in this tutorial series is the easiest and simplest to learn, and is referred to as the beginners method, or the Layer By Layer method (LBL).

  • I can get to the end. I get everything done but the two corners. They are in the right place, just need to be flipped. I do the R', D', R, D and it "messes up the cube". I don't worry and do the other one just as you do. I follow you through it. But when I'm done, my bottom 2 layers are now jumbled up. I don't get it. I'm following you the whole way

  • @BaCkWeRdZ you have misunderstood the instructions. YOUR cube is not going to need the same amount of corners to be solved as mine did. Every solve is different, you see. My cube happened to need to solve 2 corners to finish the solve, however you have to specifically look at your cube to see how many corners you need to solve on YOUR cube. You do the algorithm as many times as it needs to solve the corner on YOUR cube, don't follow that step exactly as mine, cause your scramble is different.

  • all my pieces are corner pieces? there all on the corners i have no edge peices left? and i need 1 more spot to make the cross

  • @vPhaZeZz What? What do you mean there are no edge pieces left. Can you not find it? Just look around the entire cube on each face..I'm kind of confused by what you are saying.

  • Hey, where's Stewart? Is this only Josh or something?

  • @Horseheart1228 No, it is both of us. However, since I know most about all this speedcubing stuff and I know how to solve all these cubes very fast. Stewart is still learning, and I am teaching him the basics of all cubes and hardware. Since he doesn't know how to do many things yet, He can't make tutorials yet. In a week or so he will know much much more, and will be able to do more.
