It was our first attempt, plus the snow depth was limited and the slope angle wasnt ideal. But as we weren't going to sleep in it (it was just a practice) we didn't need to dig a deeper "heat well" in the floor.
No, unfortunately. We dug it out over 2 days, starting on the way back down from Macdui (see my 'Birmingham to Ben Macdui' movie) and went back up the next day to finish it. We werent sure how big we could get it as there hadnt been much snow for a few weeks, so we didnt take the bags and mats up with us. You can see the rocks protruding out of the snow on the back wall, but although it wouldnt have been comfortable, we probably could have done it. One for next winter I think.

this is not a good cave. It shouldn't be just about digging a nice hole. You have to dig a trench between the sleeping places.
