if you're really hip, you caught James Moody quoting from the Irish tune "The Kerry Dance" (2:06 - 2:13 - you will see pianist Gene Harris snap his head up and look to see if anyone else caught it as Moody completes the quote), then Moody follow it by quoting "Old Folks" bet 2:17 and 2:33. The best jazz can be like Shakespeare or an August Wilson play; if you don't come to the performance well read (or well listened), much of what the performer does will escape your full appreciation.

Moody wll make you cry on this one; he's sooo soulful, in that way Moody is soulful, appropriate for this tune, right? Moody. And now he's gone. That's why the tears; gone, Moody's gone; but his groove is right here, for us to hear, to feel, to love, always. Teach your kids to learn this music, this culture... before you loose them. K. Ali
