Thank you for posting this. This is fricking amazing. I think I like this better than "My flesh to your bare bones" which is this recording and another recording of an artist who was inspired by this. but it's more of a poetic rant more that anything.
I do not know if it is 'surreal', now,( long after the surrealist movement), 'surreal' is a too vague term, that has lost its original meaning, Acconci could not have written this beautiful, extraordinary poem at the beginning of his artistic life: it is a meditation on a life lived to the extreme of all possibilities, a meditation as the end of that life nears, it is a meditation on an artistic practice that went to extreme limits.
it's like a surreal dream that's full of all this imagery about public and private worlds & selves. typical stuff from acconci... but always interesting
I Like how the image and words are independent of each other; how the focus on the words or image, the listening to the b.g., the colors move as Antarctica might be: blue, white, black, metallically shiny.

first listening I fell asleep. woke up an hour later not even remembering being tired.
a bizarre and fantastic lull.

the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it.
particularly suitable to meditate about the end of life,
death as part of life, rather than separation from it.
I very often listen to this piece, rather than music, when I am working.
I love it.
