On March 10, 2009, Cecilia Rouse was confirmed by the U.S. Senate for President Barack Obama's Council of Economic Advisers. Rouse is on a two-year leave from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs for government service. At the School she serves as Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at WWS, the Director of the School's Education Research Section, and Senior Editor for the Future of Children policy journal.
Her primary research and teaching interests are in labor economics with a particular focus on the economics of education. WWS interviewed Prof. Rouse in Dec. for a video feature, to discuss her research, and the state of American education.
