"Nijo-jo Castle was built in 1603 as the official Kyoto residence of the first Tokugawa shogun, Ieyasu." --from Lonely Planet, Japan. The Togetsukyo Bridge spans the Oi River, on whose surface is reflected Mt. Arishiyama. The present bridge was completed in 1934.

  • There seems to be some confusion about the name of the river.

Japan National Tourism Organization calls iit the Hozu River.

This is what they say about the bridge and the river under it:

"Togetsukyo bridge spans a river with a different name on each side. West of the bridge it is the Hozu River and east of the bridge it is the Katsura River".

    Nice video though.
