yes and try and get some stainless to wrap it on using the foil out of electrolytic caps(like the description)-that should give better capacity matching too.
also i think the comment of old man hendershot poking around with a jumper wire is signifigant in that it must be the way to start it-possibly sending a wave into the coil/s that starts the resonance.

i think its great that many of the people doing experiments on youtube are musicians (i presume you are). beats as a result of two frequencies is something i can relate to well. the results of three frequency beats gets a bit overwhelming for me though.

this 2nd coil was just to study the beat frequency phenomenon.
I think its time for me to re-make some better coils. I have to brush up on impedance matching, and re-think the materials I'm using.
I also think the capacitance should be the 7.8nF Hendershot calls for. The bigger that is, the easier it is to wrap the coil -- although Q will change.
