Choice of sock is also very important.
If you're a seasoned walker already then you'll no doubt know what works for you.
I try to go for a sock made from a wicking material for the main sock, then a small liner sock underneath. It's important to use socks that take the moisture away from your feet and that have some form of built in elastic support to prevent the sock moving against your skin.
Never wear damp socks!! Blisters are a certainty if you do, so make sure you dry socks thoroughly each and every night.
