Only half the story. There is also no part, of the third face from the left, on the bottom piece of paper. The extra rectangle is formed because _it_ has no part on the bottom piece of paper in the second part.

Explanation: When there are 5 faces each face has 2 halves but when there are 6 faces, 2 of the faces have 1 half to them.

so really what you were looking at, at first was: 1+1+1+1+0.5+0.5 = 5 but there is 6 parts to it. then they put to halves together to make 1+1+1+1+1 = 5 with five parts to it.
