Floella Benjamin talks about her autobiography, Coming to England, in conjunction with Waterstone's coverage of Black History Month. "When I first came to Britain I felt like a tortured soul, because people abused my colour daily. I was made to feel unworthy. But I learnt to come to terms with who I was because my parents told me about my history and my ancestors, which helped to instill confidence in me. That's why I believe Black History Month is important. It gives you a sense of belonging and understanding about yourself through celebrating your history and culture. It also gives others the opportunity to celebrate and respect your history too."
Beautiful lady. Talks so much common sense whatever your colour/race.

Floella is such a jolly soul, I
am graduating from Exeter, where she is the Chancellor and I can not think of anyone who I would rather celebrate the end of my studies with than my family, friends and her. Truly an asset to Exeter!

@toanvinthi So any one who dares talk about the racism directed at ethnic minorities is racist?, there are some racist blacks/asians etc, but what do you expect ? they've had good teachers

i feel that she is racist towards white people.its always the same sob story. There is plenty of equality in the uk.many black people i have spoken to admit they pull out the race card to get what they want.its absolutely disgrsceful.i am white and have many black friends-i am for equality-but pulling out the race card is just another benefit seeking egoistic and manipulative form of selfishness.
