If you're still learning how to use Reason and find yourself a little timid to flip the rack around, or if you worry that making a wrong move will sink your whole song then this video should put your mind at ease. Here Reason guru and electronic producer James Bernard takes us from "start to art" by building up a track and showing us all along the way how trying new things is both not dangerous and also can produce new sounds for our music.

  • Do you need a keyboard like your Axiom Pro to use Reason? Or can I do this without it?

  • @ItsDiegoDoes You definitely don't need a keyboard but some people (usually piano players, find it helps them). You can input notes with the mouse or even use your computer's keyboard (the one you type with) as a piano to play notes on.

  • can you tell me what keyboard your using man?

  • @davo623 axiom pro

  • Is it possible to do the chords without an actual keyboard?

  • @adiosdaniel That would the same James Bernard you see in this video. Talented bloke, right?

  • get a padkontrol that's what i use.... putting notes in with the mouse takes way to long :)

would use my nano key but its broke :(

  • ive been using reason for a lot of years and just about now i discovered that i can route an instrument device through another instrument device! i never did it! and i thought it was not even possible!

  • @zetsuXitachi pirate "bome's mouse keyboard" and loopMIDI

  • and the point of this video is what? You can hit undo, you can balls about no end creating your tracks? You can do that with any piece of software and they all come with an undo button. Great eh

  • all my songs are accidents -_- check them out in my channel

  • Did anyone else notice the midi fighter on his desk next to his screen.

  • dude. reason is cool. but that session view is fucking ugly. ableton is beautiful and simpler.

& that track you made is uglier.

i hate those beats that take 10 minutes in reason due to the ugly session view, in ableton they take hours and days.

that's just me....rewiring reason to ableton.....

  • @zetsuXitachi You could use your computer keyboard :)

*Check the options in reason to enable it :)

  • @ItsDiegoDoes use Bomes mouse keyboard! its the best...

  • personally i think the metronome is too loud
