John Pilger's documentary explores the historic and current relationship of Washington with countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile. Pilger claims that the film "...tells a universal story... analyzing and revealing, through vivid testimony, the story of great power behind its venerable myths. It allows us to understand the true nature of the so-called "war on terror". According to Pilger, the films message is that the greed and power of empire is not invincible and that people power is always the "seed beneath the snow".

Pilger interviews several ex-CIA agents who purportedly took part in secret campaigns against democratic countries and who he claims are profiting from the war in Iraq. He investigates the School of the Americas in the U.S. state of Georgia, where General Pinochets torture squads were reportedly trained along with tyrants and death-squad leaders in Haiti, El Salvador, Brazil and Argentina.

  • wow. the u.s. media is the best in the world at spinning the facts. they deserve an emmy award for that.

  • The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses. Malcolm X

CIA backing a coup? i'm not exactly shocked. They do get up to a lot don't they?

  • at least people in Venezuela aren't as idiotic as here

  • @xMaXiMuSx Considering it's a country where most work all day to get the essentials, I don't see how 1/6th of the whole country, or 5/9th of it largest city, could spear the time to protest in favor of him. And what does the US stand to gain from the civil war? The US is already the #1 destination of Libyan oil, the 2nd and 3ed being European countries that are US allies, really the US has nothing to gain from it.

  • @dave19941000

oh yeah it's possible.. There was MASSIVE 1 million +++ protests in favor of Gadaffi.

  • @xMaXiMuSx Your joking right, in a country of 6.6 million with only 1 city with more then a million people, I don't see how that's possible, even if his supporters are in the millions and from what the news, and I mean credible news not american propaganda, shows, it's unlikely the # of pro-Gadaffi is more then the # of pro-rebels. Although Iraq is a perfect example of US tyranny, Libya, in both it's rebels views and the small role the US plays, is not.

they support gadaffi, you should see the pro Gadaffi protests.. MILLIONS.

  • @xMaXiMuSx If the CIA is as involved as you say, why is the US government and military refusing to go beyond a support role? And it's lot like their fighting against a democratically elected government, or even one that's supported by the people of the country. Even Russian anti-american propaganda is on the side of the rebels in the war. I know it's a stretch to say the people of Libya support the rebels, but saying they support Gadaffi is just as much of a lie.

  • Like the song goes - "This is how we do it." Just too cool. Shavez!

  • @msugda

Corporate media is 100000% lying about the events in Libya.. The CIA behind all these so called "pro-democracy" uprisings.. They are using lies that Gadafi is "killing his own people" to intervene and overthrow him and install a puppet and destroy all of economic advances.

  • Hmmm I wonder if the same superb journalism has been used in Libya?
