Oh, I'd like to add something; as we all know, in the end the Vikings were driven out of Europe, back to the North. And, as we all know, history is being written by the victors. ;)

This is partially true. Vikings were indeed killers and rapists and raiders, but that's only a small part of them. Most of the Vikings were simple farmers, merchants and other non-violent people. The reason we see them the way we do, however, is because the European people only saw them as raiders and killers, as their farmers and merchants almost never left Scandinavia.

That's not true. I mean, a lot of them were, but many were just normal traders and only fought when necessary. But I guess they were all seen as threatening, because they were all well trained warriors, even though they didn't always use their skills to hurt people.
