@MoreSherylCrow - I'm not for sure on that b/c I've also heard Clapton describe that song as being about something else entirely. It is interesting though b/c the albums that those 2 songs are from which was "The Globe Sessions" and "Pilgrim" both came out in 1998. It's been so long, I just can't remember the source that I heard that rumour from.

Clapton's book doesn't mention anything about it, but I tend to agree that this song is about him. On the flip side, I've heard that Clapton's "Broken Hearted" is about Cheryl Crow. I have no evidence to support that. Just a rumour I heard a long time ago.

@Journeyman321 - Hadn't heard that "Broken Hearted" was about Sheryl, but wouldn't be surprised if that were true. I don't follow her personal life, but I do think they once had a very powerful romantic relationship which has influenced subsequent songs. And when you see them performing together live, there's generally a very strong chemistry between them.
