The Floppy Cat Children's Book was created because I was inspired to help kids and parents alike to understand the true concepts behind positive thinking. I had been reading the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, with a great group of women and one day we were having an in depth conversation about how sad it was that none of us had been taught the true meaning of positive thinking when we were young. As Napoleon Hill says in his book "if these ideas were taught in school the length of education would be cut in half."

The next day I sat on my front porch pondering our discussions and watching one of my favorite cats that I had named Floppy. This was the perfect name for him because he had been born with very little balance control and had serious trouble staying upright when he walked. As he grew I noticed that he had progressed from exploring the barn to roaming across the farm and then off into the wild, sometimes even up to 5 miles from the house. It was amazing to me that here on my porch lay all these healthy, normal cats, waiting for food and basking in the sun, while the physically challenged, cat that struggled with every movement, would spend every day, all day exploring and playing all over the farm, constantly searching for new and exciting adventures. So as I watched Floppy roaming around the yard that day, it dawned on me -- Floppy is the perfect example of positive thinking! Kids will love learning about his adventures and challenges! Why not teach kids the ideas behind positive thinking through Floppy?

I learned so much from watching this great cat. He was Think and Grow Rich - cat style! Everyday he made a choice to take his challenges head on, not looking at them as obstacles, but as opportunities to grow and move forward. He could have easily chosen to lie around on the front porch doing nothing, focusing on his physical challenges and how they made his life so difficult, but instead he chose to see himself in a different light. He chose to focus on the greatness in every situation and lived his life with a never give up attitude. He chose to enjoy life!

As you learn more about positive thinking from the Floppy Cat story, the Floppy songs, and the Floppy Cat web site, my hope is that you will discover the Floppy Cat inside of you! We must understand that life is, and always will be, full of challenges. Whether we are willing to admit it or not each one of them will teach us a lesson that will help us to grow. What is important, is that we teach our children not to run from these challenges but to boldly step into them to learn, and over come them. So when helping your children to understand the concept of positive thinking it is important that they know they have a choice, a choice to focus on the negative or to find the positive in every challenge they are handed.

Along the way, I hope that you as a parent, pay close attention to how you react to things? Are you taking on challenges or are you giving into them? Do you know what you want? Do you believe in yourself and all that you can do, be or see? Remember, kids learn best by example!

Have a Floppy Cat Day!
