Stafford Bingley Hall - 1978. Hitch-hiked all the way there and back to Leeds for this one. Well at least we did it going... Coming back home NO-ONE would stop for us. We saw the day break, and finally had to pay £7 for a taxi to take us to a motorway service station where we did eventiually get a lift. That was expensive in '77. Never went back to Stafford! Looking at these it's a pity the radio mike was not invented yet, as the majority of them are from one side position... This is another show from my attic archives. (Original material from 35mm slides photographed by myself some years ago). After many a long hour lovingly restoring/enhancing them, I uploaded them here for your entertainment, learning how to use Sony Vegas in the process! The originals were Ektachrome slides. The music here is from David Bowie Palais Des Sports, Lyon (France) 26/05/1978 Enjoy!

i hitched there from newcastle! after seeing him 3 nights in newcastleand 4 in glasgow. we were so lucky - we managed to get into the after show party which was wild. was anuone else there?

  • gedda legend if only these days.....

  • bak when staffordshire was important....

  • Funnily enough I hitch-hiked from Leeds too for the June 24th gig, the Saturday night show. There were no trains after the gig had finished so if you didn't have a lift you were f***ed. Me and my mate huddled next to the hot pipes under the sinks in the Gents toilets at the station, it was a freezing cold night even though it was June. Some jobsworth twat kicked us out at about 4 in the morning. Some of that adventure I remember like it was yesterday. Thanks for posting.

  • holy crow, raven and Poe... this was the year I was born. How insane that this man has been making amazing music for longer than I've been on this planet. I've loved him since my teens and cant thank you enough for sharing this awesome stuff with us. I appreciate it ever so much. If I had a time machine, I'd be there with you, thumb in the air, still blissed out of my skull from having attended this concert. thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was there too. Still got my ticket. I remember it being bloody hot in there and we couldn't afford a drink. Horribly muddy queuing outside too. I'd never seen anyone play guitar like Belew though.....a revelation to me !

  • l was at this concert - generation x were posing in the audience outside before the gig started,no one took a blind bit of notice!!

  • My 1st of many Bowie gigs, only 16 at the time
