  • what is "mawa"?

  • mawa means khoya or khava (in marathi). For making mawa, reduce water in milk by heating and make a soft dough by kneading.

  • you don't know how to cook, if you don't know, pl z don't miss guide viewer.

  • microwave cooking is bad for health esp when you are using it on full power through out the recipe, the nutritive value is lost and the carcenogenic risks are increased! i would prefer it the traditional way, longer but better way!

  • Awesome halwa....for a long time I was looking for this recipe.

  • I agree with cyberninja17. There are many sites saying good or bad regarding microwave cooking. Pl. see "how things works" (by Louis Bloomfield- Virginia university)q. no. 998 and 318. I think this is one of the authentic sites and I agree the science behind it. Still you are not convinced use gas stove instead of microwave oven.

  • Wikipedia isn't 100% facts. Anybody can change it, and if noone disputed it, its there forever.

Also I had rather chose the NHS and doctors over wikipedia. just google microwave affects on health. You shall get many studies..many health society warnings. And cancer is only the last step, there are many other symptoms.

Khair its up 2 an individual. I try to refrain from even using it to heat up food let alone cook in it! - Dadi Jaan

  • From the wikipedia site:

The radiation produced by a microwave oven is non-ionizing. Therefore it does not have the cancer risks associated with ionizing radiation such as X-rays, ultraviolet light, and high-energy particles. Long-term rodent studies to assess cancer risk have so far failed to identify any carcinogenicity from 2.45 GHz microwave radiation even with chronic (ie, large fraction of life span) exposure levels, far larger than humans are likely to encounter from any leaking ovens

  • Yep! How do u want me 2 send u the links as this wont allow me to! - Dadi Jaan
