Noisy/Loud Buzzing Wii System (Fix Included in Description)

This is a common problem with Wii units bought near launch. There are many fixes for this loud buzzing sound on the internet but I never bothered with that or sending it to Nintendo. This sound detracts largely from your gaming experiences =P. You could even hear it over your television set sometimes.

I'm certain that the noise has increased slightly in the past.

[UPDATE] I've actually fixed it completely and pretty sure it's permanent unlike many fixes :D. It was an in-house developed fix.

For everyone wondering what I did, I just un-tightened the 2 screws left and right of the green rectangle. You just have to find a specific amount of un-tightening to make the noise completely stop. I personally just un-tightened it just a small bit. I'll shortly upload a picture dictating the screws.

I have the same problem. How do you open up your wii to get it to that point in your picture?

@dottedboy 1. Find an online guide to open it up 2. Make sure you have a tri-wing screwdriver as well as a phillips screw driver to open the console.

I might try this, because mine makes the same noise and has since i got it. curiously it has done this since i got it from intendo directly, after i damaged my last one, which WAS my fault. unusual though that playing Brawl seems to make it so much louder, as if the disc tightens it up itself.

Yeah, this is what mine sounds like. Even while wearing headphones it's still somewhat audible. I've avoided playing my Wii for a couple of years now but I'd like to fix it before Skyward Sword comes out. The joys of early adoption and limited warranties.
