Ann and I sing the Magnetic Fields song "Queen of the Savages" with some lyric changes to account for Irene's age (then just a few months old) and her upcoming trip to see Midwest relatives that summer. That's a soprano ukulele with a plastic fretboard. Recorded sometime in May 2004.

  • Oops, I meant you should both sing it together, your voices are really cute together :]

  • If you like the Magnetic Fields, you should really check out all the videos by Los Campos Magneticos, who do quite nice Spanish-language versions of the songs (I think they are from Argentina?)

  • Now Irene's 6 how does she feel about the Iraq war? Super cute by the way.x

  • (Probably you already know, but ...)"Irene" is a greek word that means "peace". Thus it's funny to imagine her as a "Queen of the Savages"! A happy song to a cute young lady. God bless you all!

  • This is adorable! I also like your singing voice, you should do a cover of this song without any interruptions!

  • Cute, brings me back, my baby is of to grad school now.
